Essential vs non-essential
Prioritize heat controls, refrigeration, sump pumps, critical lighting, and communication circuits. Exclude range, dryer, and EV charging unless the owner requires them on backup power.
Transfer equipment
Generator sizing must match transfer switch or panel interlock ratings. Coordinate with CE Code requirements for standby power connections and utility disconnect rules in your province.
