Terms of Service – Current Systems Corporation

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Services provided by Current Systems Corporation ("we," "us," or "our"). The Services are provided to a business, organization, professional practice, or sole‑proprietor business (the "Customer"). Individuals who access or use the Services do so solely as Authorized Users acting on behalf of the Customer.

By accessing or using the Services, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to act on behalf of and bind the Customer, and you agree to these Terms on the Customer's behalf. If you are a sole proprietor, you are the Customer.

All Accounts and all User Data are owned and controlled by the Customer, and the Customer is responsible for all activity occurring under its Account.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Services. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.

An earlier invite-only addendum ("Pilot Program Terms") is archived for reference at /legal/pilot-terms-archive/; it no longer governs new signups.

1. Scope of Services

We provide a cloud‑based platform ("Services"), accessible via our website at currentsystems.ca, which is designed for use by licensed contractors, inspectors, and related professionals to support electrical code workflows, documentation, and project management.

Current Systems Corporation may provide educational, training, and continuing education content, including courses recognized by Technical Safety BC ("TSBC") for specified licensing or renewal purposes.

Recognition of a course by TSBC means only that TSBC has evaluated and recognized the course under applicable requirements as of the recognition date. Such recognition does not constitute endorsement of Current Systems Corporation, the Services, or any other products offered by Current Systems Corporation.

Users remain solely responsible for meeting all licensing, continuing education, certification, and renewal requirements applicable to their profession.

You agree and acknowledge that:

The Services:

• Are intended for professional and business use only
• Provide general guidance and structured workflows based on user inputs
• Do not provide legal, engineering, or permitting advice
• Do not provide authoritative or binding interpretations of the Canadian Electrical Code (CE Code) or any CSA standard (educational discussion of requirements may occur in Training Services)
• Do not replace professional judgment, field inspection, or compliance verification by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)

Licensed professionals, including FSRs, may apply and interpret the CE Code in the course of their work. However, only AHJs may issue binding or authoritative interpretations of the CE Code.

The Services are a tool that provides informational outputs based on user inputs and embedded logic which can be used by and under the supervision of a licensed professional to support their practice. They do not replace a user's professional judgment. We do not, and use of the Services does not, guarantee CE Code compliance, permitting outcomes, or regulatory approval.

You remain solely responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable codes, safety requirements, regulations, laws, bylaws, ordinances, judgments, rulings, and legal requirements ("Laws").

The Services may reference code rule numbers for navigation purposes only. They do not reproduce CE Code text, tables, diagrams, or copyrighted CSA content.

2. Account Eligibility & Responsibilities

Accounts may only be created by individuals acting on behalf of a business, organization, or professional practice.

By creating an Account, the individual represents and warrants that they have authority to do so on behalf of the Customer.

Users must provide accurate information and maintain the confidentiality of their login credentials.

Users are solely responsible for compliance with the CE Code, local amendments, AHJ requirements, and Laws.

Users must obtain and consult the official CE Code and any applicable regulatory documents.

Users are responsible for verifying the accuracy and completeness of all inputs provided to the Services.

The Services are intended for use by adults in a professional context. We do not knowingly allow minors to create accounts.

3. Fees

Any applicable fees for the Services ("Fees") will be set forth in the applicable Service Plan or Pricing Schedule. Published pricing applies to Spark and Team tiers. Enterprise pricing is provided upon request and reflected in the Pricing Schedule. The User will make all payments in Canadian dollars, without setoff, on or before the due dates outlined. If User fails to make any payment when due, we may charge interest on the past‑due amount at 12% per annum or, if lower, the maximum amount permitted under applicable law, and we may suspend User's access to any portion or all of the Services until such amounts are paid in full. All Fees are exclusive of taxes, and the User is responsible for all applicable taxes.

4. System Requirements

Users are responsible for maintaining compatible devices, browsers, and network connectivity. We are not liable for performance issues caused by unsupported, outdated, or misconfigured systems.

5. Acceptable Use & Restrictions

Users may not:

• Reverse engineer, modify, or interfere with the Services
• Attempt to bypass security or access controls
• Use the Services in contravention of these Terms or any Laws, or for unlawful, fraudulent, or unauthorized purposes
• Share accounts or credentials with unauthorized individuals
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Services without written permission

6. Customer Data & Content

Ownership

All User Data is owned by the Customer. Individual Authorized Users do not acquire ownership rights in Customer-owned records created or stored through the Services.

Where Training Services are provided, educational records generated through participation in a course may be made available to both the participating Authorized User and the Customer that enrolled the Authorized User, subject to applicable privacy laws.

Processing

We process User Data only to provide the Services or as otherwise instructed by the User. We do not analyze User Data for regulatory interpretation or compliance determination.

Educational records, attendance records, course progress information, assessment results, completion status, and certificates may be collected, stored, processed, and disclosed as necessary to administer Training Services, verify course completion, demonstrate compliance with course recognition requirements, respond to audits, or satisfy legal obligations.

Retention

User Data is deleted within a commercially reasonable period after account termination unless retention is required by law or requested by the User.

Training records, assessment results, completion status, attendance records, and certificates may be retained after account termination in accordance with legal, regulatory, audit, dispute resolution, and record-keeping requirements.

Aggregated & De‑identified Data

We may use aggregated, de‑identified information to improve the Services, analytics, and platform performance. This data does not identify individuals or projects.

7. Data Location & Residency

We prioritize Canadian data residency and configure our systems so that User Data is stored in Canada wherever technically feasible. Certain technical operations performed by service providers (e.g., Google Cloud, Stripe) may occur outside Canada and are subject to their privacy and security practices.

8. Intellectual Property

All software, content, and materials provided through the Services are owned by Current Systems Corporation or its licensors. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, including your payment of all Fees due hereunder, we grant you a limited, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable license to access and use the Services for your internal business purposes, subject to these Terms.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Services without written permission.

The Services do not include CE Code text, CSA copyrighted materials, or proprietary regulatory content.

If you provide us with any feedback suggesting or recommending changes to the Services, including new features or functionality, or any comments, questions, suggestions, or the like ("Feedback"), you hereby assign to us on your own behalf, and on behalf of your employer or organization, all right, title, and interest in, and we are free to use, without any attribution or compensation to any party, any ideas, know-how, concepts, techniques, or other intellectual property rights contained in the Feedback, for any purpose whatsoever.

9. Third‑Party Services

The Services may integrate with third‑party platforms, including payment processors and hosting providers. We are not responsible for outages, errors, or data loss caused by those systems. Use of third‑party services is subject to their respective terms and policies.

10. Availability & Service Levels

We aim to provide reliable access but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The Services are provided "as is" without uptime guarantees unless otherwise specified in an Enterprise agreement. Maintenance windows, updates, or outages may occur without notice.

11. Professional Services

We may offer optional services such as onboarding, training, or consulting under a separate Statement of Work or agreement.

11A. Educational and Training Services

The Services may include educational courses, training programs, webinars, assessments, examinations, learning materials, continuing education activities, and related content ("Training Services").

Training Services are provided for educational purposes and are intended to support professional knowledge and competency development.

Training materials may be revised from time to time to reflect changes in applicable laws, regulations, codes, standards, policies, industry practices, and regulatory requirements.

Current Systems Corporation reserves the right to update course content, delivery methods, assessments, and supporting materials at any time.

11B. Technical Safety BC Recognition

Certain courses offered through the Services may be recognized by Technical Safety BC ("TSBC") for continuing education or licence renewal purposes.

Where a course is identified as recognized by TSBC, such recognition applies only for the period specified by TSBC and remains subject to TSBC policies, requirements, and continuing recognition conditions.

Current Systems Corporation may display recognition numbers, recognition periods, course identifiers, and related information as authorized by TSBC.

Course recognition may be modified, suspended, withdrawn, or expire in accordance with TSBC requirements.

Current Systems Corporation makes no representation or warranty that TSBC recognition will continue indefinitely or remain unchanged.

Users are responsible for confirming current recognition status and licence renewal requirements directly with TSBC.

Recognition of a course by TSBC applies only to the specific course identified and does not extend to any other Service, feature, tool, educational offering, publication, recommendation, workflow, or output provided by Current Systems Corporation.

11C. Course Completion Records and Certificates

The Services may generate certificates of completion, transcripts, assessment records, attendance records, or similar documentation.

Such records confirm only that the applicable course requirements were completed through the Services.

A certificate of completion does not by itself:

• (a) grant a licence or certification;
• (b) renew an existing licence;
• (c) establish professional competency;
• (d) constitute regulatory approval; or
• (e) guarantee acceptance by any regulatory authority beyond the recognition expressly granted by that authority.

Users remain responsible for complying with all licensing and renewal requirements applicable to their profession.

Nothing in the Services, including course participation, assessments, examination results, certificates, completion records, or training records, shall be construed as a determination of an individual's competency, qualifications, experience, fitness for work, or suitability for employment.

11D. Assessments and Examinations

Any quiz, examination, assessment, knowledge check, or automated knowledge checks, scoring tools, or assessment mechanisms provided through the Services is intended solely for educational purposes.

Assessment results are not a determination of professional competence, code compliance, licensing eligibility, or regulatory qualification unless expressly stated by the applicable regulatory authority.

11E. Artificial Intelligence Disclosure

Current Systems Corporation may utilize software development tools, including artificial intelligence-assisted development tools, in the design, development, testing, maintenance, and improvement of the Services. Such tools are used internally and are not part of the customer-facing Services unless separately disclosed.

The Services do not currently use artificial intelligence, machine learning, automated reasoning, large language models, or generative artificial intelligence to interpret the Canadian Electrical Code, determine compliance, analyze projects, review customer submissions, generate compliance recommendations, evaluate licensing eligibility, score examinations, grade assessments, determine course completion, make regulatory decisions, or produce customer-facing professional advice.

Calculator, training, and documentation outputs are produced through deterministic logic, structured workflows, and user-provided inputs unless and until we expressly identify a feature as using artificial intelligence.

If we introduce artificial intelligence-powered customer-facing features in the future, we may update these Terms and provide additional disclosures as appropriate before or when those features become available.

12. Continuing Education Courses

We offer self-serve online continuing education courses (including BC Field Safety Representative continuing education) as part of the Services. Course purchases are one-time fees unless otherwise stated at checkout.

You agree and acknowledge that:

• Continuing education courses support professional development; they do not constitute certification, licensing, or renewal with Technical Safety BC or any other regulator.
• A certificate of completion from Current Systems confirms you finished the course material; it is not a government-issued credential and does not replace regulator renewal steps.
• Course access periods, retakes, and support are as described on the course page and in your purchase confirmation unless we agree otherwise in writing.
• Course materials are for your individual use; sharing login access or redistributing content is not permitted.
• Refunds for course purchases follow our refund policy stated at checkout or in purchase communications, except where required by applicable law.

Before starting course content, you may be required to acknowledge a course-specific welcome and disclaimer. That acknowledgment is separate from these Terms and is logged for audit purposes.

13. CE Code, CSA, and AHJ Disclaimers

To comply with CSA requirements and regulatory expectations:

• The Services do not reproduce or distribute CE Code text, tables, diagrams, or copyrighted CSA materials.
• The Services may provide educational content discussing CE Code requirements and industry practices for training purposes. However, the Services do not provide authoritative or binding interpretations of the CE Code. Only Authorities Having Jurisdiction retain authority to interpret and enforce applicable requirements.
• The Services do not certify, validate, or guarantee compliance with the CE Code or any regulatory standard.
• AHJs remain the sole authority for interpreting and enforcing the CE Code.
• Users must consult the official CE Code and applicable regulations for all compliance decisions.
• Outputs depend entirely on user‑provided inputs and assumptions.
• Users are responsible for verifying all outputs against the CE Code and AHJ requirements.

CSA Group and Canadian Electrical Code are trademarks of the Canadian Standards Association. Their use is for identification only. Current Systems Corporation is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Canadian Standards Association.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind
• We disclaim all liability for damages arising from use of the Services, reliance on outputs, or errors or omissions
• Current Systems Corporation, its affiliates, and representatives are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages
• In no event shall the total aggregate liability of Current Systems Corporation exceed the subscription fees paid by the customer in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
• Current Systems Corporation shall not be liable for any decision made by TSBC, an Authority Having Jurisdiction, employer, licensing body, certification body, or regulator regarding licence issuance, renewal, suspension, restriction, continuing education credit acceptance, or professional qualification.
• Nothing in this Section limits liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct to the extent such limitation is not permitted by applicable law.

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the Services is to discontinue use.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Current Systems Corporation from claims, losses, damages, or penalties arising from:

• Misuse of or overreliance on the Services
• Inaccurate or incomplete data entry
• Failure to comply with applicable codes, regulations, or safety requirements
• Violations of these Terms
• Claims arising from a user's reliance on course participation, course completion, examination scores, certificates, or training records as evidence of licensing eligibility, regulatory approval, or professional qualification.

16. Termination

Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services immediately if you violate these Terms, misuse the Services, or engage in unlawful or harmful activity. In these cases, all rights to access the Services cease immediately, and no refunds are provided.

Termination by You (Cancellation)

You may cancel your subscription at any time. When you cancel, you will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. After that period, your access will downgrade or end, depending on your plan.

Data Handling After Termination

Customer Data may be retained or deleted according to our data retention practices described in the Privacy Policy.

17. Emergency Disclaimer

The Services are not designed for emergency response, hazard detection, or real‑time safety monitoring. In any hazardous or emergency situation, users must follow workplace protocols and contact emergency services.

18. Privacy

Collection and use of personal information are governed by our Privacy Policy, available within the application and on our website.

19. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated in advance, typically with 30 days' notice. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

20. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict‑of‑law principles.

21. Severability & Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any applicable Professional Services agreements, constitute the entire agreement between you and Current Systems Corporation.
